Chopo physiological basket muzzle - Caucasian Shepherd, Sarplaninac

The Chopo physiological basket muzzle is a model matched to the shape of the dog's head. "Physiological" means the dog can open its mouth freely in the muzzle - to drink, pant, breathe under exertion and take treats - which matters during longer wear, in the heat and during training.

Which snout shape

This is the widest basket in the Chopo range - 14.0 cm across at a height of 16.0 cm. The model is made for molosser breeds and livestock guardian dogs with a massive, broad head: the Caucasian Shepherd, the Sarplaninac and dogs of similar build.

What it's made of

The base is a galvanised wire basket coated in a rubber-plastic compound - it protects against corrosion and damage, cleans easily and won't freeze to the snout in winter. The metal doesn't touch the dog's skin directly, so the muzzle is friendly even for dogs with sensitive skin or a metal allergy. The fastening strap is natural leather, and the inside is lined with soft felt that prevents chafing. Chopo muzzles are handmade.

The breed is a starting point, the measurements decide

The breed name in the title is a guide, not a rule. Two dogs of the same breed may need different models, because fit is decided by the actual snout measurements, not the breed itself. In dogs this size the differences can be large, so measuring matters here more than anywhere else.

One size, no Male and Female versions

Unlike most Chopo models, this muzzle comes in one universal size. So there's no choosing between a Male and a Female version - all that counts is whether the 14.0 × 14.0 × 16.0 cm basket leaves your dog's snout enough room.
