Collection: Basket muzzles

A physiological muzzle is one in which the dog can freely open its mouth, drink water, pant and respond to exertion. Unlike closing muzzles (e.g. rubber "socks"), it doesn't block natural functions, so it suits long walks, longer training and situations where the muzzle simply goes along with the dog, rather than being a 10-minute formality.

In the shop we have Chopo physiological muzzles - a Czech maker that has for years built models matched to specific head types. Variants are chosen separately for breeds with an elongated snout (e.g. German Shepherd, Malamute, Kuvasz, Belgian Shepherd), for breeds with a broad, square head (Rottweiler, Cane Corso, Fila Brasileiro), for Labradors and Huskies, and for the Doberman, Beauceron, Bull Terrier or Great Dane. There's also a separate Sport version - lighter, designed for sport work.

Choosing a muzzle comes down mainly to the circumference and length of the snout - Chopo gives the dimensions of each model, and we're happy to advise by your dog's head type. It's worth bearing in mind that a muzzle serves a dog not only in legally required situations, but also at the start of reactivity training.
