Protection

Protection is the part of the sport where a dog learns a confident grip and an out (release) on command, working with a helper (the person who, in proper protective gear, runs the exercise). It's a spectacular but demanding part of training - and here the gear has a real impact on the safety of both sides.

You'll find everything a helper and handler need: training bite sleeves from models for young dogs to full competition versions, sleeve covers, bite wedges for teaching the grip, training whips and ring-grade bite tugs. We back Raddog and Euro Joe - gear that lasts season after season.

The most important thing is matching the hardness to the dog's stage. Gear that's too hard early on can put a dog off, too soft won't prepare it for the target work. If you're putting protection gear together for the first time, it's worth a chat.

Not sure which sleeve or wedge suits your stage? Write to us - we'll advise.
