The Chopo physiological basket muzzle in the Sport version is a model for German Shepherd-type dogs, designed for intensive work. "Physiological" means the dog can open its mouth freely in the muzzle - to drink, pant, breathe under exertion and take treats - which matters during longer wear, in the heat and during training.
What sets the Sport version apart
This is the German Shepherd model prepared with working and sporting dogs in mind - with greater durability and a construction that doesn't restrict efficient panting under heavy exertion. Chopo muzzles are used by uniformed services in many countries, and every piece is handmade.
What it's made of
The base is a galvanised wire basket coated in a rubber-plastic compound - it protects against corrosion and damage, cleans easily and won't freeze to the snout in winter. The metal doesn't touch the dog's skin directly, so the muzzle is friendly even for dogs with sensitive skin or a metal allergy. The fastening strap is natural leather, and the inside is lined with soft felt that prevents chafing.
The breed is a starting point, the measurements decide
The breed name in the title is a guide, not a rule. Two dogs of the same breed may need different models, because fit is decided by the actual measurements, not the breed itself. So it's worth measuring your dog before buying.
How to measure your dog
To choose a muzzle we need three measurements of the snout: its length, its width and its height. The graphic on the product page shows how to measure. Based on these we'll point you to the right model and size - Male or Female.
Two sizes
The muzzle comes in two sizes. "Female" (the smaller) has a basket measuring L 10.5 × W 12 × H 13.5 cm, and "Male" (the larger) L 12.5 × W 13 × H 16 cm. It's the dimensions, not the sex, that matter here - if your female dog has a large head, the "Male" version may fit, and the other way round.
