A Herman Sprenger fur saver with medium 2.5 cm links and a ClickLock buckle. You put it on and take it off in one move, without pulling it over the head and without opening the links. Herman Sprenger is a German maker with more than 150 years of history, whose equipment is the standard in professional dog training worldwide.

ClickLock buckle

ClickLock is Sprenger's patented buckle. It closes in one move, holds firmly under load and does not open by accident. A black strap runs on both sides of the buckle, separating it from the chain of links.

Three rings

The manufacturer lists three rings: one at the end of each strap by the buckle, plus a free ring for the leash. The ring slides along the chain, so a pull on the leash spreads across the collar rather than onto one point.

Medium links

The manufacturer describes this collar as a chain with medium-length links that pass easily through the ring. A universal version that suits every coat type.

Which dog it suits

The manufacturer recommends 3 mm wire for medium dogs and names the Dalmatian, Dobermann, Beagle, Australian Shepherd and Labrador.

How to choose the length

Next to the total length we give the maximum neck circumference at which the chain still closes. Measure your dog's neck at its widest point just behind the ears and choose the version whose maximum circumference is larger than your measurement, so there is room for adjustment.

If your dog's head is wider than the neck, also measure the head circumference at its widest point, across the ears and cheekbones. A chain you want to put on over the head without opening the buckle cannot be shorter than that circumference.
